Commissioning, Tuning & Maintenance
375kW CATERPILLAR 3412 Engine with 2 CAIN Heat Exchangers. Total Plant Efficiency was approximately 80%. This plant provided roughly 24 MMBTU of thermal energy without burning any additional fuel. Loop tuning led to emission levels staying below the levels of 9ppm NOx and 53ppm CO.
Commissioning & Optimization
65 MW Power Plant built by Caterpillar for Alberta Newsprint Co, comprised of ten (10) CATERPILLAR G16CM34 Engines. Thorough testing of medium voltage and low voltage switchgear, protective relays, transformers, balance of plant instrumentation (including the tank farm),and fin-fan units. Optimized air/fuel ratio, to meet emission stack requirements as well as eliminating the de-rating issues experienced post startup.
Process Optimization
By working with the local agencies, we were able to properly tune setpoints thereby increase plant efficiency and drastically increase the amount of power generated each year. This facility went from being marginally profitable, to being the top producing plant for the owner.
